AAK

AAK welcomes you

Welcome to AAK

The Danish unemployment benefit scheme is a voluntary insurance scheme. This means that it is the responsibility of the individual to join an unemployment scheme and thus be insured against unemployment.

Please read our folder "English Quick Guide for Academics" about what is up and down in the unemployment benefit system.

Download the folder here.

If you are not a member of an unemployment scheme, you will not be entitled to unemployment benefit in the event of unemployment. Instead you will have to apply for social security benefit from your local municipality (kommune).

Danish unemployment funds are private associations and AAK is the largest unemployment benefit scheme for academics.

We would be pleased to welcome you as a member.

In this section of our website, you will find a short presentation of AAK and the services you are entitled to as a member.

The rules governing non-Danes' entitlement to cash benefits/start-up assistance are complex and we recommend that you seek further information from your local authority. You can also visit EURES' website, eures.dk, where you will find information in English on working and living conditions in Denmark.

You can read about the most important rules that apply to membership and unemployment benefit. As not all rules have been translated into English, it is important that you contact us for more information. We look forward to hearing from you.

Please contact us, if you have other questions.

You can also visit Workindenmark, where you will find information in English on working and living conditions in Denmark.
